Warfighter Performance, Readiness, and Brain Health

Warfighter Brain Health

The Warfighter Performance, Readiness, and Brain Health Project Management Office was chartered in May 2011 by the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command to lead the development and acquisition of materiel products to Warfighters suffering from brain injuries and psychological health issues.

The mission of the Warfighter Performance, Readiness, and Brain Health PMO is to rapidly develop and field U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved medical solutions across the continuum of care that aid in the detection, protection, prevention and treatment of neurotrauma and psychological health conditions, such as Traumatic Brain Injury, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and suicide. The Warfighter Performance, Readiness, and Brain Health PMO currently supports the development of biomarkers for TBI, non-invasive assessment devices for TBI, clinical drugs and therapies to treat TBI, and novel markers and treatments for PTSD and other psychological health conditions.

The Warfighter Performance, Readiness, and Brain Health PMO continues to push innovative solutions by collaborating with, and transitioning solutions from, academia, industry, and other medical research organizations (to include those within the Department of Defense) to accelerate the development and delivery of products as far forward as possible in the battle space. Most notably, we highly value our close relationships with the Military Operational Medicine and Combat Casualty Care Research Programs, which effectively align efforts against validated requirements to transition products quickly through the acquisition development process.
