Hail and Farewell, the Deputy Commander Dance

As the summer months roll in, we are counting down the final few days with our current Deputy Commander, Lt. Col. Michael Ingram. The U.S. Army Medical Materiel Development Activity will be saying a fond farewell to Ingram and we will be welcoming Lt. Col. David Johnston as our new Deputy Commander.

Ingram has been an instrumental part of USAMMDA for the past three years. During his time here, he has made numerous contributions that have not gone unnoticed. In addition to his daily management duties, Ingram has promoted military officers; presented civilian and military awards; presided over official ceremonies, organizational days and numerous teambuilding activities. He has been the driving force behind getting the USAMMDA employees involved in physical fitness through creating organization softball and volleyball teams, as well as taking afternoon walks with anyone available and willing.

It is his commitment to the people, and his unique sense of humor, that will serve as Ingram's legacy at USAMMDA. I have no doubt his outstanding leadership will continue at his next role at Medical Countermeasure Systems, as the Joint Product Manager, Biodefense Therapeutics. Ingram will certainly be missed.

Ingram will be departing at the end of June, and Johnston will begin on August 1st. While USAMMDA is losing a great leader, I have no doubts we are gaining another exceptional leader in Johnston.

Johnston brings a wealth of knowledge, coming from Defense Health Agency as the director of strategic planning and partnerships at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Johnston brings a wealth of experience in medical education, chemical and biological policy, threats, and research with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and an additional Master's degree in Strategic Intelligence from the National Intelligence University (in-residence).

Johnston's experience is impressive, and I am looking forward to seeing his contributions to the USAMMDA team.

As I am entering my second year at USAMMDA, I feel I have had the tremendous privilege to have served with the support of some remarkable leadership. I truly wish Ingram well and hope our paths may cross again one day. And I welcome Johnston to our USAMMDA team.

The future is looking bright at USAMMDA.

Hooah!
