Warfighter Deployed Medical Systems Project Management Office

Formed in April 2019, the Warfighter Deployed Medical Systems Project Management Office is comprised of a team of experts that includes Department of Defense acquisition and project management professionals, clinicians, biomedical engineers, logisticians, scientists, and technical support personnel. Within the Warfighter Deployed Medical Systems PMO, there are two Product Management Offices: Medical Devices Assemblage Management and Modernization. The Warfighter Deployed Medical Systems PMO serves as the focal point for medical materiel lifecycle management in the Army.

Mission: To develop, deliver, and sustain deployable medical capabilities for the Warfighter.

In this role, the Warfighter Deployed Medical Systems PMO:

  • Provides lifecycle management for 140 medical assemblages and 207 medical equipment items for the Army, to meet the medical mission for the deployable forces
  • Modernizes medical systems (e.g., Combat Support Hospital conversion) and individual medical equipment items to ensure modern, safe, effective healthcare in the battlefield
  • Coordinates and implements Class VIII equipment and materiel changes that are generated through Force Design Updates of medical units
  • Maintains the medical materiel database to ensure standardization and availability of materiel
  • Supports set reviews, establishing Line Item Numbers, Basis of Issue Plan management, maintenance support planning, and technology refreshment
  • Supports the development of medical devices and products by serving on Integrated Product Teams (i.e. fielding, requirements, sustainment)
  • Develops medical assemblages by identifying materiel solutions and sustainment strategies
  • Delivers internal support to Army's Pre-positioned Stock, Medical Materiel Readiness Program, foreign military sales, and the Office of The Surgeon's General contingency stocks
  • Manages the replacement or upgrade of obsolete commercial-off-the-shelf and legacy medical devices
  • Provides continuous "technical watch" in order to rapidly replace obsolete medical devices, to ensure minimal to zero gap in field capability
  • Executes the conversion of the legacy Combat Support Hospital to the new modular Hospital Center
  • Executes the conversion of the legacy Forward Surgical Team to the Forward Resuscitative Surgical Team
